Jaguar Type E 4.2 SII ots

The Type E underwent some technical and aesthetic modifications which distorted the original purity of the bodywork. These modifications were linked to the emissions requirements and safety standards of the United States first market for Jaguar, as well as the need to improve reliability.

Aesthetically, the exterior differences mainly relate to the absence of a glass fairing for the headlights, more enveloping and higher bumpers, a larger air intake at the front to improve cooling and inside, a painting different board with toggle switches.

Mechanically, in the United States, the three SU HD8 carburetors are replaced by two Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, which decreases the power of the car as on the 1.5 series. The European versions retain the three SU HD8 carburettors. The disc brakes are now Girling much more efficient than the Dunlop system of the previous series.

The Series 2 is the most reliable (and easiest to drive in modern traffic) of the E-type Jaguars because it features better Girling braking and a large radiator cooled by two electric fans.

The model presented has belonged to the same owner for many years, he uses it every year for tourist rallies and its maintenance is meticulous and regular. The engine has lost its 2 Zenith-Stromberg carburettors lowering its power in favor of the 3 SU HDS8 carburettors of the European version bringing its power and torque back to the well-known standard of this model.

It was restored a few years ago and retains a very beautiful patina. The mechanics in perfect condition and made reliable do not require any costs to be foreseen.

The Series 2 has always been less desired than the sculptural Series 1, but the improvements made to this model as well as the 3 SU carburettors make it a very good alternative and offer the possibility of riding in an automotive icon for a more reasonable budget.

Series 2 retains all Type E Series 1 dynamic features, changes are cosmetic only. Particularly on this model whose mechanics are exceptional.
