The Jaguar E-Type succeeds the XK 150 and establishes itself as one of the ultimate icons in automotive history. When it was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show on March 16, 1961, the E-Type caused one of the most sensational post-war events worldwide, creating an immediate sensation. The impact was immense, both for the public and journalists as well as for other manufacturers. No flattering adjective was spared in celebrating its beauty, originality, elegance, and modernity. For many enthusiasts, the Series I 3.8-liter remains the most accomplished version: its lines are remarkably pure, and its engine is distinguished by a particularly lively and expressive character.
This rare Jaguar E-Type Series I 3.8-liter flat-floor model is offered for sale as a bespoke restoration project in our workshops. It will be completely dismantled, with all body panels stripped down and sent to the rotisserie. All mechanical components (engine, gearbox, differential, brakes, etc.) will be fully restored to original specifications, with all necessary improvements for reliable use. The car can be painted in its original factory color or in any color chosen by its future owner, finished in a polished lacquer. The interior will be completely redone, including full-grain leather seats, carpets, soft top and cover in alpaca fabric, trunk lining, and more, either in the original color or in the desired shade.
You can select the options you wish (braking, steering, gearbox, etc.) and follow the restoration through a photographic progress report that we will provide. The supplied Jaguar Heritage certificate confirms that the car was delivered new on September 21, 1961, to Jaguar Cars New York. Originally Old English White with a red interior, this Jaguar E-Type was repainted after full dismantling many years ago; no further details about its history are available.
