Ferrari Testarossa

Unveiled at the 1984 Paris Motor Show, the Ferrari Testarossa immediately established itself as one of the most iconic sports cars of the 1980s. Following in the footsteps of the Berlinetta Boxer, it retained the concept of a flat-twelve engine mounted in a mid-rear position. Its 4,943 cc engine produced 390 hp and enabled the Testarossa to reach a top speed of nearly 290 km/h. Its transverse transmission layout contributed to a particularly well-suited weight distribution for a mid-engined sports car. Yet it was above all its design that captured the imagination, penned by Pininfarina under the direction of Leonardo Fioravanti. Its famous ribbed side air intakes, essential for cooling the engine, quickly became one of its most distinctive visual signatures. With its exceptionally wide rear section and angular lines, the Testarossa perfectly embodies the automotive aesthetics of its era. Inside, leather upholstery, comprehensive instrumentation and a typically Ferrari cockpit create an environment designed around the driver. In 1991, the Testarossa evolved into the 512 TR, benefiting from extensively upgraded mechanical components and chassis. It was subsequently replaced in 1994 by the F512 M, the final evolution of this flat-twelve family. With more than 7,000 examples produced, the Testarossa remains one of Ferrari’s most instantly recognisable models. It has come to symbolise the golden age of 1980s supercars and remains an essential chapter in Ferrari’s history.

We are pleased to offer this 1988 Ferrari Testarossa, showing just 17,000 original kilometres. Its history began with its first owner, who kept the car until the 1990s. It then passed into the hands of a second enthusiast, who entrusted the car to Atelier des Coteaux for both servicing and storage. In 2015, the Testarossa changed hands once again, while remaining in the care of our workshop for storage. Its new owner would never actually drive the Ferrari, which remained carefully preserved for more than ten years. This accounts for its exceptionally low mileage, which is fully documented and supported by the complete collection of invoices contained within its history file. Fresh from a major mechanical service carried out by a Ferrari specialist, the car has now undergone a comprehensive recommissioning. An invoice exceeding €13,000 documents the recent work undertaken to ensure that the car can return to the road in the best possible conditions. Still finished in its original factory paint, this Testarossa presents in a particularly well-preserved condition. It also retains its original tool kit, completing an exceptionally coherent package. Yet beyond its condition and remarkably low mileage, it is above all the car’s history that makes this particular example so special. After more than ten years in storage, this Ferrari is now ready to return to the road, its mechanical systems having been thoroughly recommissioned. Its future owner will therefore have the opportunity to enjoy an exceptionally low-mileage Testarossa, while still having the privilege of writing the next chapter of its story. A rare opportunity to acquire one of the most iconic Ferraris of its era, with its finest pages perhaps still waiting to be written.
